Martin Gardner 1914-2010

Probably best known as the columnist for Scientific American's "Mathematical Games" column that brought things like Conway's "Game of Life", fractal artwork, flexagons, and others to a wider audience. He was also the author of "The Annotated Alice" series of books on Lewis Carroll's works. From a reviewer of one of his books: "Martin Gardner has turned dozens of innocent youngsters into math professors, and thousands of math professors into innocent youngsters."
